HYPE MERSEYSIDE pledges bikes for Merseyside’s NHS Heroes

A local organisation focused on getting people involved in cycling has pledged to provide more than 100 of its hire bikes to NHS staff across Merseyside hospitals, as a means of supporting the current fight against COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Social enterprise, HYPE Merseyside, will be delivering 100 bikes to frontline NHS workers over the next month, after their initial offer to staff from Arrowe Park Hospital was met by an overwhelming response. Read more →

Vibrant Schools

Vibrant Schools is a project organised by HYPE Merseyside which aims to provide more opportunities for young people, enhance empty spaces by implementing growing areas and learn about the environment.

Over the past 12 weeks, 50 wonderful students from years 7, 8 and 9 from St Cuthbert’s High School in St Helens took part in a series of workshops to design and build planters for flowers, fruit and vegetables. Read more →

Research as Art 2018

Congratulations to our talented Nonconform designer Charlie who has won a 2018 Research as Art award from Swansea University for “Iris” a large scale public art piece that she created in partnership with Engage Liverpool. Iris was installed in the Baltic area as part of VENT festival, which used art to explore and communicate issues around air quality. Read more →

LAAF 2018 – Emel Mathlouthi

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival’s (LAAF) enhanced musical programme will enjoy a spectacular opening weekend with a performance from internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and the “voice of the Tunisian revolution”, Emel Mathlouthi on Saturday 7 July at the Invisible Wind Factory. Emel’s genre-defying music melds electronica and Tunisian textures into her unique cinematic universe, blending acoustic and electronic sounds into a style wholly her own and drawing together Tunisian instruments such as gumbri (bass lute), zukra (flute) and bendirs (frame drums) with heavy kick drums and atmospheric melodies. Walton Community Garden

We went along to the opening of the Walton Community Garden. Our Creative Director Andrew is also a director of Walton Hall Park. We designed the FOWHP logo and will be carrying out other creative work in the future. The garden is a multi purpose space for growing, socialising and education, all funded by the Big Lottery grant.
